DEAR OVERCOMER

By Jamaal Smith 07 Jan, 2018
One thing I've recognized about the apprehension of starting over is the common factor or detrimental flaw almost always present is fear.

We love habits and routines. Habits can be good while others bad, but sometimes we're so comfortable and find so much solace in routines that we forget to walk with our eyes open!

Things become monotonous and we are comfortable. Have you heard the saying, "I can do this with my eyes closed"? That speaks of ease.  So, we cannot sleepwalk through our life. We don't want to miss out on the life God has for us because we are fearful of something new. Have you started a new job and felt the first weeks were challenging? Once we get a little time under our belt the job seems to come natural. It all works out!

There is an element to starting over that is imperative to possess and that is FAITH!

Start the new journey, walk by faith, overcome, and excel!- JS

ENMITY

Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.”

After the fall of man, God promised there would be an intense hatred between the woman's offspring and the devil's offspring. God assured Adam and Eve that He would be the one that put that hatred there. From that point in the garden of Eden, two lineages would now be born- those who were from Satan and those who were the offspring of God. It is evident by their first two sons Cain and Abel. When Eve had Cain she thought he would be of the seed of God. Genesis 4:1 Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, “I have acquired a man from the Lord.” But Cain turned out to be of that wicked one (1 John 3:12). His brother Abel was of the seed of God and after Cain killed him, God appointed another. Genesis 4:25  And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and named him Seth, “For God has appointed another seed for me instead of Abel, whom Cain killed."  History has shown this intense hatred between good and evil remains even during this present time. There will always be those who oppose God and his seed. It is important to understand since we are God's children the world will not be kind to us. Although Abel did nothing wrong to Cain, his brother hated him because Abel was of God. It should not surprise you that people hate or despise you for this was told to us by Jesus Himself. John 15:18 "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first." If the world seems to love or embrace a person, it is because that person is of the world's mindset. When the world hates you it is because you have light in you. Continue to be a light! Shine God's people, shine...JS
